In order for Desert River Outfitters to book the Black Canyon the customer must obtain a launch permit. Due to NATIONAL PARK SERVICE regulations we are not allowed to obtain this permit for you. You must make this reservation by calling 1-702-293-8204. When you contact this number and reserve the permit there will be a $13 per person fee charged for this permit. There are only 30 boat launches a day allowed at Hoover Dam. Due to the popularity of this trip, we suggest booking well in advance of the desired date. The launch reservations open up 6 months in advance, and spring and fall are premium times to go and therefor book up months in advance.

Once you have obtained the required permits you can then contact us for boat reservation. Please insure you have a minimum of four persons in your party before calling us. Since we have no control over the permits issued, we do not have set dates that we run this trip. You can however call us and see if we have a group going and possibly go on the trip if more launch permits are available on that date.

If you are doing a day trip you can meet us at the Bureau of Reclamation warehouse. We no longer transport from Bullhead City due to increased vehicle insurance costs. Due to heightened security in the Hoover Dam area we must be at the warehouse staging area an hour prior to launch so that all equipment and vehicles can be searched. We have no control over this and we insist that you be on time. If you are late the trip can be canceled as there is no room for launch times to be delayed. We will not refund any fees paid due to cancellation of the launch caused by the customer being late. We will however refund fees if the trip is canceled due to Desert River Outfitters being late.

If you are doing an overnight trip, we like to do a front end pick-up where we will pick up at Willow Beach the morning of your launch. This is where your river trip terminates. It makes it much easier on you and us by doing it this way. When your trip is over your vehicle is right there and you just load up and leave from this point. It eliminates you from loading and unloading your gear if we transport you back to Hoover Dam on the day your trip ends. It saves you time and allows you to get a head start on going home. We ask that you meet us TWO HOURS in advance of your scheduled launch to insure enough time to load your equipment and proceed to the launch area.

We can accommodate you if need to meet at the Bureau of Reclamation's warehouse. We recommend you contact us and we can better plan the logistics of the trip and customize it for your particular needs.
